Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu

Well…hello! Happy New Year to all my lovely followers, new and old! Remember to follow the (ex)review tag in case you miss any reviews, especially during the new year. Also follow (ex)lover for all other posts and stuff.

So tonight, we have

Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu

…or in English, Today, We Start Our Love.

Very sweet shoujo, with a slightly annoying character.

Tsubaki Hibino is a first year in high school. Nothing too different, except that she dresses very…plain. Long braids, long skit…she’s just looks very bookish (which she is).  But there is one thing about her…she loves doing hair.

On her first day at a school she didn’t want to attend she’s instantly singled out by most students as this showa era girl, and is then bullied by the (1) smartest and (2) most popular first year in her school.  Kyouta Tsubaki (I’m doing the first name first deal tonight btw).

One of the best things to happen in this manga is the beginning…is when he pisses her off enough she doesn’t just take it and back down…no! She cut’s he’s FLIPPING hair off like a G!

She takes no one’s shit.

…for about two minutes of this manga.

Then she starts to annoy, and goes in and out of being kinda cool, to being COMPLETELY stupid.

Now, I like this manga. I do. I enjoyed reading all 78 chapters in two LONG nights. I think, if anyone has the time and REALLY likes shoujo to give this a chance. I think some of you dedicated shoujo fans might like this.

Which…looking at the amount of notes I’m getting on one of my posts…a lot of you enjoyed.

The best thing to happen in shoujo….EVER! Seriously..this happened..during a serious point in the manga.

Anyway.

In my experienced opinion on shoujo, the art isn’t too bad…sort of cliche, the usual big eyes and wispy hair, short school girl skirts, and brooding young men. It encases all the cliches of a shoujo…yes…even the traffic accident. Moving on to College. Sex. Abusive parent. Single parent homes. School bullying, and karaoke.

If you want something long…interesting, and just one HUGE cliche. Read. Now.

Other wise…I have something else for you.

RATING: 3.5/5

because the writing isn’t bad.
